The 59-year-old FOX studio analyst could be just that — a 59-year-old FOX studio analyst — at the end of this hiring process. NOLA.com’s Jeff Duncan points out in the tweet quoted above that the longer this courting lasts, the more likely it is that Payton will stay at his current job.

Perhaps this is all just elaborate posturing on the part of the shrewd businessman.

by Payton interview with the Panthers Monday was the third meeting between his suitors — with the Denver Broncos and Houston Texans talking to him before. He will add a fourth team to this list Thursdaywhen he talks to the Arizona Cardinals.

So, will there be a fifth? And who would it be?
