KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A Kia Forte was pinned under a tractor-trailer after a collision around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday morning on Interstate 435 and State Line Road in Leawood, Kansas, and dragged by the tractor-trailer under the curb from his trailer to the area of ​​I-435 and Lackman Road.

The driver of the silver Kia, a 28-year-old female from Kansas City, Missouri, was trapped inside the vehicle under the rear passenger side of the trailer. Missouri State Highway Patrol and Overland Park Police said authorities helped remove the woman from the Forte.

She is alive, conscious and in the hospital, according to Leawood police. She told authorities she was in a lot of pain.

The accident happened at the intersection of the on-ramp to westbound I-435 and State Line Road in Leawood, police said. Investigators say they believe the tractor-trailer was crossing west when it hit the Kia.

The Kia was dragged by the tractor-trailer approximately 8 miles west to Lackman Road. Officials initially reported that the vehicle was a Prius rather than a Kia.
