Arrested after Microsoft executive, father of 4, shot dead in ‘targeted ambush’: police

Almost a year after Jared Bridegan, a Microsoft executive and father of four, was beaten down On a Florida road in what authorities said was a targeted ambush, a suspect was arrested in connection with his murder, police said Wednesday.

Bridegan was driving with his then 2-year-old daughter in Jacksonville Beach on Feb. 16, 2022, when he came across a tire blocking his path, police said. When he got out of the car, he was “shot in cold blood,” said Jacksonville Beach Police Chief Gene Paul Smith.

“It was a plan and a targeted ambush and killing,” Smith told reporters at a Wednesday press briefing announcing an arrest in the case.

Tenon is also facing a child abuse charge because Bridegan’s 2-year-old daughter, who was strapped into her car seat, was in “direct danger” when he was shot and killed, Nelson said.

Identification of a Ford F-150 spotted around the crime scene at the time of the shooting led to the arrest, Smith said.

Tenon is due in court Thursday morning, after which prosecutors will seek to be charged with first-degree murder, Nelson said. It is not known if he has an attorney who can speak on his behalf.

The state won a court order to seal Tenon’s arrest warrant and affidavit for the next 30 days to “protect the integrity” of the investigation, Nelson said.

Bridegan was driving home after dropping off twins she shares with his ex-wife when he fell on the “purposely placed” tire and was shot, Smith said. Nothing was stolen, he said.
